Hardway to Millennium Bridge Harbourside Birdwalk

Join Solent Bird Aware Rangers on Sunday 13th March for a walk from Hardway Slipway Carpark to Millennium Bridge and take a peek into the world of birds who live in Portsmouth Harbour and Forton Creek.

This is one of the first walks of it’s kind on Gosport’s Harbour shoreline and is great for local residents who see the birds from the Bridge and Harbourside and would love to know more about them.

This walk is aimed at those who are new to, or less-experienced at bird watching – our ranger will help you to improve your bird identification skills with their top tips and tricks. Bring binoculars if you have them but don’t worry if you don’t, you can enjoy views of the birds through the ranger’s birding telescope.

The event will be limited to 20 people maximum, operating on a first come first serve basis.

In The News this week

Bridge faults continue to be a problem for Forton Creek boat owners and marine businesses.

In the article published by The Portsmouth News earlier this week boat owners and boat yard residents talk about the problems they face and the distress this ongoing situation is causing. It highlights the importance of the opening mechanism repairs needed to restore the Millennium Bridge to a fully operational condition which will enable boats to travel from the creek to Portmouth Harbour (and beyond).

Through the Friends of The Millennium Bridge we have been in regular contact with Gosport Borough Council and know that they are working hard to resolve the problem. We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of repairs here.

Red Arrows over Portsmouth Harbour 20th October 2021

We are hoping the Millennium Bridge will be open again in time to view the RAF Red Arrows display on Wed afternoon (5:43pm- 6.23pm with back up timings slightly earlier on Thursday). Apparently “in support of an event on HMS Prince of Wales“, according to QHM Portsmouth.
